The Internships at Basement Recordings program, is an ongoing, corporate initiative which invites and involves college and graduate students in every facet of the daily functions of a marketing and multimedia company.

Our internship program always seeks the best and the brightest talent for placement. Basement Recordings is founded upon a philosophy that the impossible is only mediocre.  This encourages both our artists and employees to create and challenge the norm. This creativity is encourage with a focused awareness on both internal business structure and external global strategies. It is our belief that the key to Basement Recordings' success is the spirit of innovation realized through a blend of strong entrepreneurial talent, keen strategic vision and a passion for creativity. Through participation in the internship program, students are provided with an insider's view of several joint ventures and partnerships. Students will gain hands on experience in the areas of marketing, graphic design, web design, music publishing, audio engineering, promotion, distribution, computer networking, corporate communication, post/preproduction and many other areas. In addition, students will observe the creative, business, legal and logistical factors that guide professional decisions.

The program will provide an opportunity to gain a firm understanding of today's multimedia scene from an organization that is on the cutting edge of talent development.

Applicant should be PC literate, with a knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent communication skills and a full comprehension of a time sensitive work environment are needed. The most important requirement is the student's basic love & appreciation of music.

Applicants are selected based on their collegiate experiences, creativity, previous exposure to the industry and individual profiles. Resumes are accepted on a rolling basis due to the high number of internship openings. A majority of the internships are non-paying positions that will award college credit to the matriculating student (upon approval by the institution).

Graphic Designer

Job Description:

Basement Recordings Inc. is currently searching for a Graphic Designer Intern. This person is responsible for work individually and collaboratively with Basement Recordings multimedia team and a wide variety of clients, both internal and external, to design, create and execute electronic images for interactive multimedia, and graphics for web based presentations, and maintaining the design and visual continuity within assigned projects. The interns will concurrently work on several projects that vary in design and complexity as well as insure projects are of the highest creative, quality and technical standards, delivered on time, and in compliance with the placements policies and practices. The ideal candidates will have experience in fine art, design, visual communications or a related field, and want experience designing and creating visual elements and graphics for electronic media projects.

Requirements:

Must be fluent in After Effects, Photoshop , Quark, Illustrator 8, Illustration and/or 3D skills a plus, preferably Electric Image. Your reel should show an ability to create visually sophisticated, high-end conceptual work. Person must be able to work under deadlines as well as technologically friendly and be expected to quickly learn to interface with studio equipment. Web Site Builder

Job Description:

Basement Recordings Inc. is currently searching for a Web Site Builder. This intern will work on web sites for Basement Recordings. The site builder will create templates and pages for sites; breaks down Photoshop comps (as directed by designers) into functioning sites; create banner ads and manage site assets; produce and optimize digital video/audio; troubleshoot and "stress" test sites.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year site building experience; knowledge of HTML, including browser inconsistencies; experience with DHTML; familiarity with art production techniques and browser/platform limitations; experience creating dynamic site as as well as template production and experience working closely and effectively with designers. Able to work on both PC's and Macs. Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, ASP, SQL, Java, C++, C. Experience with Premiere, Dream weaver, Flash or Adobe Go Live are a plus. Media Relations

Job Description:

Intern will assemble press kits and clips for Basement Recordings events. Coordinate conference calls and press conferences and handle media inquiries. Intern will also work all NYC based press events and/or events.

Requirements:

Writing and phone skills, multimedia music and computer technology knowledge, flexible hours.

Web News Editor

Job Description:

Basement Recordings Inc. is currently searching for a Web "News Editor”. This person will work in the Basement Recordings newsroom writing, editing and maintaining www.basementrecordings.com.  Occasional on-air Web related reports are a possibility. Ideal candidates will have a journalistic interest and experience with AP style news writing, graphic applications and video encoding. Previous Web site/HTML knowledge is a plus. Journalism majors preferred.
